Surf, Chill, Repeat: Things to Do Off the Board in Tamraght

You’ve signed up for a week of surfing classes here at Tiziri, and the thought of catching wave after wave already has you buzzing with excitement. But perhaps you still wonder: what will I do with all that free time once I’m off the board? Don’t worry—boredom isn’t on the agenda. Tamraght is full of charm and color so whatever your preferences are, you won’t be disappointed.

If you feel tired and lazy after the day, don’t worry, you can just chill on the rooftop. There is a great spot for watching the sunset and a good range of games to keep you occupied. If you want to move a little, we also have daily post-surf yoga classes!

So you had all day of surfing, you are tired, but still want something fun to do? Go get lost in the town – wonder around the dusty streets, petting the cats and admiring the beautiful Moroccan architecture. Maybe get a tea or coffee from the back of someone’s car? It is surprisingly good!

Coffee from the back of a car, anyone?

If you’re spending your holidays in Morocco, chances are you’ll want to bring home a few treasures. Tamraght and the surrounding area have plenty of charming artisan shops brimming with handwoven carpets, colorful pottery, and intricate jewelry. And on Tuesdays there is a cute local market just in front of the Mosque, few steps away from your accommodation. There you can find fresh fruits and veggies, dates, nuts and all kinds of small trinkets for the decoration of your home.

Prefer a slower pace? Still crave more beach time? Head to the beach for a relaxed afternoon of sunbathing and swimming, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch a local music festival as the sun sets – a true taste of Morocco’s vibrant culture.

If you are in a social mood – get your fellow surfers together and organize a games night on the rooftop. There a plenty of card games to choose from and karaoke has also been a great success (consider inviting each guest to sing a song in their native language).

And if your body is calling for a break after a few intense days in the water, consider a day trip to Agadir. The city has a beautiful Medina (the original medina was destroyed in an earthquake, but full recreation was built in 1992), chill promenade full of restaurants and cafes and one of the biggest Souks in all of Morrocco. You can easily spend hours wondering around, bargaining with the vendors and shopping for everything and anything you might want, from Moroccan spices and teas to maybe a tagine pot so you can make your own new favourite food when you’re back home.

From markets and medinas to sunsets and songs, Tamraght offers plenty of ways to fill your days. The only challenge might be fitting it all in between the waves.
