Morocco, A Surfing Paradise?
With Agadir only a few hours flight from most European cities, Morocco proves to have the best potential for a surfing holiday. I highly recommend it because:
Prices:
Food, board rental and accommodation in Morocco are much cheaper than their European counterparts. There’s a wide range of housing types available near the beach, whether hotel, hostel or apartment rental, all come at a great price. Flights too can also be very cheap from European airlines.
Conditions:
Morocco has year round sunshine on the coast, and the temperature holds above 20°C in the winter months. Water temperature ranges from 18°C in the winter months to 21°C in August.

Sunset at Devil’s Rock
Devil’s Rock in Tamraght is a great surfing beach popular with locals. It has many beautiful cafés and restaurants overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Beachside camel and horse rides are also available around here.
Имсуан boasts Africa’s longest wave, a wave here can be rode for 2 or more minutes, although the waves aren’t particularly big here. There are many options for camping around this area, as well as a nearby stretch of the Sahara Desert which provides excellent views.
Nearby city Essaouria (a 3 hour drive or bus) has a beautiful old medina where you can find some of the best plates in North Africa. The medina is inside the amazing old city walls and next to the fortress. Essaouria was the focus of hippies from all round the world who visited in the 60s, including Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and Cat/Yusuf Stevens. The city still does maintain a bohemian lifestyle, with music and fun lasting into the night.
